Driver Bubble TfL approved partition

The pandemic is still a reality as cases are soaring. Drivers may be concerned about it while they carry dozens of passengers every day. To put drivers mind at ease, they can seek multiple providers services of so called “partition screens”. But only a handful of them are TfL approved. It is the case for Driver Bubble. The Dutch company is now providing a partition screen that is TfL compliant.

Finally TfL approved

Driver Bubble is providing different products that help drivers around the Europe to work in a pandemic-type situation. But the Driver Bubble™ FixiCover TfL Shield is the one suitable for London. It took several months for Tfl to approve the screen. Clearly, the product had to go through several testing stages to get the certification.

“we started offering the partition screens to help protect drivers and their passengers and to stay connected to one another. Our screens provide a safer and more secure way of providing rides and getting people from A to B. We are thrilled with the TfL approval and we see this as another step to assist drivers across the UK to get back to the road and support local communities.” said Thomas Kruyne, director of Driver Bubble, in a statement.

Drivers who are regulated by other councils could also use the shield. Normally, TfL requirements and standards should be rigorous enough to match every local regulation.

Specs and price of the Driver Bubble partition

You can install the shield yourself without the need to seek the services of a professional. By using cable ties and velcrostraps, It is fairly easy to install and should not take more than 20 minutes. The material used for the making of the partition is polycarbonate.

One downside is that the partition is not for all vehicle models. It covers as many models as the Toyota Jemca partition screen. But Driver Bubble should provide for more models very soon. Here are the vehicles eligible for the shield:

  • Toyota Corolla (Hatchback; Estate and Sedan models) (January 2019 onwards)
  • Toyota Auris (May 2015 onwards)
  • Toyota C-HR (2016 onwards)
  • Toyota Prius (2010 onwards)
  • Toyota Prius Plug-in (September 2016 onwards)
  • Toyota Camry (September 2017 onwards)
  • Toyota Camry (April 2018 onwards)
  • Lexus UX (October 2018 onwards)

The partition covers 90% of the area between the passenger and the driver. It may reduce the risk of contamination. Especially if the driver follows the other shielding practices. Indeed, do not forget to leave the windows slightly open and sanitise the vehicle as regularly as possible.

The screen leaves a gap in between the seats for payments and transaction to take place. Great feature for taxis. However, we could regret the absence of a version that would cover this area. Indeed, most of the drivers are now working with cashless transactions. That is the norm in the ride-hailing industry.

Driver Bubble London TfL approved

Price wise, the Driver Bubble FixiCover TfL Shield becomes the cheapest regulation compliant option on the market. For about £145 including VAT, you have it delivered to your door. As said before, you can install it yourself easily in few minutes!
